Get to Know Us
Connected Development is a Cape Town based non-profit company (NPC) dedicated to building meaningful connections that support personal growth and strengthen communities.
We create programmes, and hold intentional platforms where individuals and organisations can reflect, learn, and grow, recognising that community transformation begins with self-awareness, agency, and shared purpose. Our work prioritises the holistic development of people, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and networks needed to contribute positively to society.

Turning Potential into Practice
The Skills Towards Empowerment & Productivity (STEP) Programme is our flagship programme, it is aimed at providing space for young people aged 20–30 who want to grow, find their voice, and build real world skills for life and work.
Through hands-on projects, shared learning, and exposure to new spaces and stories, STEP offers a supportive environment to explore who you are, strengthen your skills, and build confidence. It’s a space to learn by doing, connect with others, and take meaningful steps towards your future.
Rooted in Community, Growing Together
The Roots and Wings Network is a collaborative platform for community-based initiatives and organisations to connect, learn, and grow together.
The network supports its members through capacity building, shared learning, and opportunities for collaboration across projects. By creating space for reflection, development, and partnership, Roots and Wings strengthens organisations from the ground up while supporting them to extend their reach and impact within their communities.

The Unchained Platform

Why this work matters
In South Africa, and particularly in Cape Town, we live with the daily realities of inequality, fragmentation, and historical harm, realities that shape how people see themselves, one another, and what feels possible. In this context, personal growth is not an individual luxury; it is a collective necessity.
When people develop self-awareness, heal, and grow with intention, they show up differently in their families, workplaces, and communities. At the same time, these challenges are not unique to one place. Around the world, communities are grappling with disconnection, uncertainty, and social change. We believe that when individuals are supported to grow in relationship with others, they become active contributors to more just, connected, and resilient communities, locally and globally.
